Stranger Trucking has been a dream in the back of Mr J. A. Landry's mind for many years. Now it has become reality.
"Stranger" has been a driver for over 23 years, having gotten into his first big truck at the age of 17. Two years of driving different types of trucks and working in the Oilfields of South Louisiana and being less than 21 yrs of age at the time, Stranger joined the US Army. He took the MOS of Truck Driver and went from there. The stint in the US Army lasted for 10 years, originally starting with 3.
Upon his ETS from the Army in 1993, he moved his family to upstate New York to the town of Bethel, and started driving an old International Cabover, hauling cattle to the slaughter houses. In this job, he more or less acted as he owned the truck in doing the services, getting his loads, and everything else that went along with it, except the truck was not owned by him.
In Jan 94, a small company known as Tri-State Delivery was found in Texarkana, Ar USA. Stranger started to work with that company. He met and worked for a Mr George Cummings who owned TSD. Mr Cummings put a challenge to each and every driver in his employ that if he or she could go One Million Accident Free Miles, then he would buy that person a truck to his/her specifications, but the truck had to be TSD Blue to keep with uniformity. Stranger took that challenge, and beat it. He was awarded the American Trucking Association Award for One Million Perfect Miles on June 16, 2002 after having attained the status on Aug 2, 2001, 7 yrs, 6 months, and 2 days after beginning work at TSD.
Mr Cummings sold TSD in 1998, but the challenge was still on. However, TSD had gotten into a financial bind and was unable to provide this sought after prize to Stranger. But, Stranger still worked for TSD up until Jan 2003 then terminated his employment and ended up at Vernon Sawyer Inc in Bastrop La. 5 Months and 60 thousand miles later, Stranger decided to terminate employment with VSI, and see about getting his own truck.
Mr George Cummings was a really great help, and is instrumental in accomplishing the purchase of his first truck, the 1999 Freightliner pictured on this page.
Stranger Trucking is Leased to Excalibur Transportation Group ( another George Cummings Company) and now the history will be in the making.

As of July 3 2005, Stranger has rolled in exces of 300,000 miles with his 99 Freightliner Condo. The truck is holding up Greatly.
